So I thought when I got pregnant I'd be blogging a TON documenting every detail. Well, it turns out pregnancy sucks A LOT of energy out of you. I had no idea how exhausting this entire process would be.
Tomorrow I'll be 30 weeks. It feels like this pregnancy has gone super fast and slow at the same time. There's so much anxiety that goes along with pregnancy, especially because it's my first time and I don't know what to expect.
Overall, I feel like pregnancy has been fairly kind to me. But I am so ready to be done. Once I hit 37 weeks this little dude can come as soon as he wants.
First Trimester
The first trimester the fatigue was the hardest part. I went to bed at 7pm almost every night for several weeks. I knew about nausea and puking but had no idea about the fatigue. My mom could barely keep a meal down when she was pregnant with me so I thought I'd be puking constantly. Thankfully that wasn't the case. From about 6-13 weeks I would throw up every morning in the shower. I had a few other scattered episodes but that was it.
I took a lot of baths. For some reason it helped with the nausea and to relax before going to bed. I also craved macaroni and cheese and often ate that for lunch or dinner because it was the only thing that sounded good. This boy definitely likes cheese.
Second Trimester
Once the second trimester hit my energy and appetite started to come back. I definitely understand why they say the second trimester is the sweet spot.At 15 weeks we found out we're having a boy! People also started asking me if I could feel him yet. I was kind of worried because I'd maybe felt a flutter or two but nothing definitive. He was always supper wiggly during my ultrasounds so I wondered why I couldn't feel him. Once I hit 22 weeks all of a sudden I started feeling him all the time. And he hasn't stopped kicking me since.
After Christmas the nesting bug started to settled in and since then I've been on a quest to reorganize our house. We've slowly been getting the nursery ready and acquiring the many supplies we need to get ready for baby.
For the past few weeks I've had a really hearty appetite and have finally gained weight. I'm heavier to begin with so I wasn't too worried about my lack of early weight gain. It's happening exactly at the pace it should and Henry is growing right on schedule.
Third Trimester
I'm now officially in the home stretch. Hello third trimester! The fatigue is back and I'm uncomfortable most of the time, especially at night trying to sleep. I'm also back to taking a bath almost every day because it's one of the few places I feel mildly comfortable. All of this COVID-19 stuff isn't helping my already taxed body and mind. Our birthing prep class at the hospital was cancelled and there's a lot of unknowns about what the state of our world will be like when it's time for me to deliver. My depression has been high the last few days and I'm trying to combat it as best I can.
It's hard to believe Henry has to double or triple in size before he's ready to come out. If I think about it too hard I start to feel really overwhelmed. I'm grateful for a loving, patient husband and good medical practitioners to help me threw these next several weeks.
I can't wait to meet our little guy!
