loving life in the southwest
This morning I had an email in my inbox notifying me to renew my domain for this site. I can't believe it's already been a year since I started Life Enchanted. It's been a whirl wind journey settling into my new life in the Southwest.
I truly have developed a love for the culture and landscape here. I adore cacti and succulents now, can't get enough green chile, and have no qualms about it reaching 70 degrees in March. Life is different here but it's so good.
Married life is fantastic. It has it's ups and downs for sure, but at the end of the best days and the worst days I get to climb into bed and be held by my sweet husband. At that moment everything melts away and I'm calm and content. I know I can face the next day no matter what it brings.
I moved to New Mexico last February after getting a job offer from UNM. Ultimately, it ended up being the worst work experience of my life and a truly toxic work environment. It paid me the highest salary I've ever earned but it was at the expense of my mental health, confidence, and self-esteem.
After almost six months on the job and a week-long depressive episode I was let go. What felt like the ultimate failure ended up being the greatest blessing.
While I was unemployed for two months, we were able to get Zoey. There's no way we could have gotten a puppy if we'd both been working full-time. And then I found Crossroads.
Crossroads for Women is a truly amazing organization. I feel so privileged to work there and associate with our staff and clients. As an organization Crossroads fundamentally understands people and the struggles we all face. We work to build people up and empower women to build their best lives, no matter their past mistakes or trials.
Next month I will receive an hourly raise and promotion. As part of that change, I'll get to start doing communication work for the agency, which is my true passion and skill set. Blessings keep coming and I feel so grateful.
